Short Biography
Andreas J Kassler is currently Full Professor in Computer Science (Telematics and Multimedia Communications) at Karlstad University, Sweden.
He teaches Wireless communication and multimedia networking related topics. He received his PhD in Computer Science from University of Ulm, Germany, in 2002.
At University of Ulm, he was the leader of the QoS and Mobility research group at the Distributed Systems Department from 1998 until November 2003.
In December 2003, he joined the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological
University (NTU), Singapore, as an Assistant Professor. Since 2005 he has been with department of Computer Science at Karlstad University in Sweden, where he hold a position as Associate Professor from 2005 until spring 2007.
Dr. Kassler is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Internet Engineering. He was been General Co-Chair for the
International Workshop on Wireless Mesh Networks (WiMeshNets 2006), Co-Chair for the Minitrack "Quality of Service in Wireless Networks" at HICSS 38, 2005, and TPC member of several IEEE and other international conferences
He has also been invited to serve as a reviewer for international journals and
conferences including Journal of Selected Areas in Communications (JSAC), IEEE Communications Magazine
and a number of IEEE international conferences. He co-authored more than 70 reviewed research papers and is named as co-inventor on 3 european and international patents.
Dr. Kassler is a member of the IEEE, IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Computer Society, and of the Technical Committee
of Telecommunications of the IASTED. He is also member of the ESF-MINEMA (Middleware for Network Eccentric and Mobile Applications) committee,
management committee member of the COST290 action (Traffic and QoS Management in Wireless Multimedia Networks) and a member of ERCIM eMobility WG.
He is actively participating in several IETF working groups. His research interests include Wireless Mesh, Ad-hoc networks, multimedia networking, and Quality of Service Management.
