Introduction to Independent Project
One major part of this course is the Independent project that each student shall do. The student will make a independent study of some performance evaluation subject. There are a number of rules for this part:
- The students may work alone, or in groups of two or three persons. A larger group might be allowable, but requires discussion with the instructor.
- The subject of the work may either be one of the topics proposed by the instructor, or a topic selected by the student. If the student selects a topic, the topic must be discussed with the intructor before commencing the work.
- The project work may be theoretical or practical. Theoretical work requires a written report of around ten pages to be submitted, and practical work requires the completion of a performance evaluation study to be performed using analysis, simulation or emulation (or combinations). For practical work, a breif written description of 2-3 pages should be submitted.
- The project work in the Performance modelling course may be coordinated with the project work in wireless networks course. In this case the subject must be related to both wireless networks and performance evaluation. The required work for joint work is correspondingly larger.
Possible Topics

Some of these topics could be combined with the project work in the wireless networks course, discuss with the instructor
