Opposition Guidelines |
Opposition (C-level 40 minutes; D/E-level 60 minutes) |
Respondent C-level 15 minutes D/E-level 25 minutes |
The respondent presents the dissertation work. A powerpoint presentation
(or similar) is recommended.
Remember that you are presenting the
project to a general public who are not necessarily acquainted with the subject
area. It is therefore useful if you can present some background to the project,
situate the project in a general context, present the main points in
your study and give a summary of the most important results.
|
Opponent C-level 15 minutes D/E-level 25 minutes |
The rôle of the opponent is to provide positive criticism of and comment on the
dissertation work. The opponent may use her time to either comment on the dissertation,
ask questions of the respondent(s), or do both.
Major points for discussion or
change should be provided in written form to the respondent(s) and supervisor.
Minor corrections such as layout, spelling and language use corrections should be
presented in list form to the respondent(s) after the opposition.
|
Public 10 minutes |
During the final part of the opposition, members of the public are invited
to ask questions or provide comments.
|
After the Opposition (30 minutes) |

decide whether the dissertation is to be awarded a pass mark and which changes (if any)
are required for the final version.
